hey,
this week was honestly very focused and pretty simple.
the main thing i started was cs50, harvard’s introduction to computer science course. it begins with c, which lined up perfectly with my plan to go deeper into fundamentals, and it’s already been insanely helpful. it’s forced me to properly understand things like memory allocation, pointers, and building custom data structures instead of just using abstractions.
the problem sets have probably been the most valuable part. they’re tough enough that you can’t just skim through them, and they really force you to consolidate what you’ve learned from the lectures. it feels like the kind of learning where things actually stick instead of just making sense temporarily.
the course is meant to run over 11 weeks, but i’ve been grinding it pretty heavily. i’ve been watching lectures and working through problem sets during break and lunch at school, so the goal is to finish the whole thing by the end of next week. it’s intense, but it feels worth it, especially since it lines up with my shift towards stronger foundations.
outside of that, i didn’t build or ship anything major this week, which was intentional. i wanted to give myself space to focus fully on learning instead of splitting attention across too many projects.
one small thing though: i bought the domain aminice.help. i’m thinking of turning it into some kind of social experiment, but it’s still very early and undefined. i’ll probably talk more about it once i figure out what direction i actually want to take it in.
next week is very straightforward:
finish cs50
submit the swift student challenge
that’s it. no extra projects, just closing loops and finishing what i’ve started.
this week felt slower from the outside, but internally it feels like one of the most important shifts so far. going deeper into fundamentals feels like building something that will compound for a long time.
thanks for following along,
vulcan
