hey,

this week, i’ve decided to take part in hack club’s athena award. the challenge: ship 3 open source projects + spend 30 hours coding before the end of october. if you succeed, you get a certification recognised by places like mit and spacex - and, more importantly, a chance to join the largest high school hackathon for girls and nonbinary students in new york this november.

for me, it’s not just about the prize. i see it as a great way to grow my audience in a new community of builders - and it aligns perfectly with my 100k before uni journey.

i’ll be using this as the perfect excuse to ship something i’ve been planning: a newsletter directory, where i can keep promoting this newsletter and hopefully turn that audience into potential buyers when i start a saas later.

also: i’ve opened up sponsorship spots on this project - the featured spot on the main page will be for sponsors, giving more reach and a bit of early monetisation for me.

on top of that, i’m rebranding vulcanwm. keeping the username, but now the profile picture and branding fit the theme of vulcan + coding + fire. it’s more distinctive and gives a cohesive look across my projects, making it easier for people to recognise me as a brand.

this feels like a natural next step in my journey - building for myself, building for others, and making it fun along the way.

thanks for following along,
vulcan
