hey,
since the last update, a lot has happened. i’ve completely revamped my portfolio - new slick animations, a bold orange theme, and a rebrand that ties into my name. vulcan is the god of fire, so shifting to orange makes it more cohesive and memorable. i submitted this as my first athena award project, and it feels good to have a portfolio that finally looks like me.
i’ve also started building math-hacks: a platform where every weekend there’ll be a hackathon exploring a different maths concept. it’s still early, but it’s shaping up to be my second athena award project, and i’m excited about how it could help people learn maths through building.
on top of that, today i started building math-forge - an open source maths library made by students, for students. i’ve added some core functions already and i’m now exploring how to publish it properly as a library. this will be my third athena project, and the one i’m planning to spend most of my energy on.
and, maybe the biggest highlight: i went to my first irl hackathon - daydream london by hack club. it was such a cool experience, meeting other builders in person, sharing ideas, and shipping a game built in react. it really felt like stepping into the community i’ve been part of online for so long.
this week has been about momentum. i’m building things that reflect my identity, projects that excite me, and connecting with others who share the same drive.
it has been a month and a half since i started this journey, and i’ve only got £10 (0.01% of the goal), but i have faith in myself, and i know the more i build, the better chance i have to completing my goal.
thanks for following along,
vulcan
